Terms

The agreement, in the words we would use anyway.

Last changed 5 September 2026. Anything with a price or a refund in it lives on the rules page, so the two can never disagree.

Everything here rests on one rule: be real.

A real person, available for the work they say they are available for. A real company, hiring for a role that exists. Almost every other line below is that rule applied to a particular situation.

HireUs is operated by Oddly Serious Inc, and that is who this agreement is with and who you are paying. A purchase appears on your statement as HIREUS.LOL.

1. Who may use HireUs

Anyone over 16 who is genuinely looking for work, genuinely hiring, or buying a labelled advertisement. One account is one of those three things and stays that way — if you both hire and are looking, register twice with different emails. That is deliberate: a recruiter quietly job-hunting should not risk the two blurring.

2. What you promise when you publish

  • The profile is yours, and the work on it is work you did.
  • You are available on the terms you stated, and you will say so when that stops being true. Availability expires on its own if you go quiet, so this mostly takes care of itself.
  • What you upload is yours to upload.

You keep everything you write here. Publishing gives us permission to show it on the boards, in search, and on a share card — and nothing else. We do not sell it, license it on, or train anything on it.

3. If you are hiring

  • Verify your company before writing to anyone, and write only about roles that exist.
  • Every invitation names real compensation, or says plainly why it cannot yet.
  • A decline is an answer. Being ignored is also an answer.
  • What you learn about a candidate here is for deciding whether to hire them — not for a list, a mailing, or a database you keep.

4. Paying for things

The core candidate experience is always free; Spotlight is optional. Appearing, being found and receiving invitations are free, and will stay free.

Everything anybody does pay for — a Spotlight rank, a hiring post, a boost, an advertisement — is described with its price, its length and its refund grounds on the rules page and the pricing page. Those pages read the same configuration we charge against, which is why the numbers are not repeated here: two copies of a price is one price that can be wrong.

The one worth knowing without clicking: a paid rank is visibility for a period, not a position you own. Being outbid is not a refund.

5. What we can do, and what you can do back

We can hide content, restrict an account, or remove one — for impersonation, for fake availability, for roles that do not exist, for harassment, or for anything that makes this place unsafe to be listed on.

When we do, you are told what happened, why, and how long it lasts, and you can appeal it. The appeal is read by a different person than the one who decided. That is a rule we hold ourselves to in code, not a courtesy.

A reported link is disabled while the report is looked at, and nothing on the public page says a report exists — otherwise filing one would be a way to put a mark on somebody.

6. What we do not promise

That you will be hired, that anybody will write to you, or that a company on this site is a good place to work. We check that a company is who it says it is. We do not check what it is like inside, and a verification badge says exactly what was checked and nothing more.

Links out — a work sample, a careers page, an advertisement — go to other people's sites. We do not endorse what is on them.

7. Changes, and leaving

You can leave whenever you like, from your settings, and take your data with you first.

If we change something on this page that affects what you agreed to, we will tell you rather than quietly reposting it. Everything already bought keeps the terms it was bought under.

8. Asking about any of this

Contact us. It is one person, so it is a real answer rather than a form reply.
